Houston, TX Natural Meet and Greet was a Success!

Ladies let me tell you!

We enjoyed ourselves and shared our natural hair experiences. Some of the ladies even brought products to swap and sell. I got a 16 oz bottle of Karen's Body Beautiful Hair Milk. I've never tried any of KBB products. Once I use the Hair Milk I will let you all know how my responds to it.

Above is the picture that was taken at the meet and greet and we will be doing it again soon! I will keep you posted. Keep your eyes and ears open and hopefully if you are in the area you can attend the next one.

Henna'd for the Second Time

Hi There Sweeties!

This is my second experience with Henna and I love it! My hair is so soft, fluffy, strong and it has lots of body!

Since my hair was pretty dark before I started using Henna, you can only see the hints of auburn that the Henna leaves behind in the sun.

Below are the pics I took after I henna'd and did my second Twist-n-Curl (TnC). I was pleased with the results.

I began using Henna this past January and I plan to do so once a month. Check out the pics and enjoy!!

Two Strand Twists Meets Flexi-Rods

This weekend I tried something new. I did two strand twists on my hair and set them on Flexi-Rods and Voila!!

I actually like this style on me. My hair is very soft and mainly frizz free. It is also very shiny!! Today is day 2 of this style and it is still holding up. I used 54 Flexi-Rods and 2 regular organge rods (I ran out of Flexi's).

What's funny is that shrinkage still found its way into my hairstyle (I know..It's never going away). I did a length check and saw that my hair is Arm Pit Length fully stretched in the back (shown in the 3rd pic). But once I let that curl go, it BOING'd back into place!

What I did to acheive this style:
  • Co-washed and detangled with Herbal Essence Totally Twisted
  • Deep Conditioned for 45 min with Pantene Pro-V Nourishing Moisture Replenishing Mask
  • Sectioned off hair with 2 cross sections(Front to back and Ear to Ear) that gave me 4 sections to work with (Braid the sections that you are not working with)
  • Applied ABBA Pure Gentle Leave In and DevaCare One Conditioner
  • Twisted hair and sealed entire twist with Knuckle Butter (My Own Product)
  • Spiraled twists around Blue 7" Flexi-Rod (diameter 9/16")
  • Let air dry over night
  • Removed Flexi-Rods and carefully pulled twist apart ~ while pulling apart I had shea butter on my finger tips and palms
  • Pinned up the left side of curls with 2 hair pins

Have you ever used the Flexi-Rods? Please share your experiences.

Until Next Time,

I know I know, the name is a little funny but it is great for the hair.

Knuckle Butter is a great moisturizer for normal to dry hair. Apply to your hair while it is damp or dry. Make sure you let it melt by rubbing it between your palms before applying to your hair. A little goes a long way. Knuckle Butter is also a great skin moisturizer. Say goodbye to those rough dry areas of your skin. Our Knuckle Butter moisturizes the knuckles, elbows, knees, and in between the fingers. Remember, a little goes a long way.

Ingredients: Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, Hemp Seed Oil, Virgin Coconut Oil, Glycerin, Corn Starch, Vitamin E, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Essential Oils and Fragrance Oil.

Each paticipant's hairstyle will be featured on my blog. So come and join in to get your chance to try this free product!

Today's Inspiration: Be a Bounce-Back Person

Today's Scripture
"So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold…" (I Peter 1:6-7, NLT).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria
We all face disappointments and setbacks. Life is full of things that try to push us down. Maybe you got bad news concerning your health. A relationship didn't work out. Maybe you lost your job. It was a setback. When we face setbacks, it's easy to get discouraged or lose our enthusiasm. Too often we are tempted to just settle where we are. But if we're going to see God's best, we have to have a bounce-back mentality. That means when you get knocked down, you don't stay down. You get back up again. It means when disappointments come, you shake them off knowing that what the enemy meant for your harm God is going to turn around and use for your good.

When you're a bounce-back person, you know that adversity is not permanent. Weeping may endure for a night, but you know joy is coming in the morning. There is wonderful joy ahead on the other side of this trial. Keep standing, keep believing, and choose to be a bounce-back person because you are coming out better off than you were before! You are rising higher, and you will fulfill the destiny God has in store for you!

A Prayer for Today
Father in heaven, I choose to set my focus on You. I know that You are turning things around in my favor. I choose to stand and believe Your promises. Thank You for Your faithfulness in my life. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

To Clay or not to Clay?

To Clay or not to Clay, that is the quesiton..... and my answer is......To Clay!!

I love my results!! I applied the Bentonite Clay (B-Clay) to my face and to my hair. It left my hair and face feeling oh so soft! The B-Clay also defined my curls. It is a keeper. So here is what I did:

  • Co-washed and detangled my hair with Herbal Essence Totally Twisted
  • Plaited my hair in four sections, one of each side in the front and in the back
  • Mixed B-Clay with water and honey in a plastic bowl with a plastic spoon
  • Applied B-Clay with fingers starting with the back two sections and proceeded to the front of my head
  • Left it on for 35 minutes
  • Rinsed it out and applied Elasta QP DPR-11 for the Deep Conditioning Treatment
  • Donned a plastic cap and sat under a soft satin bonnet dryer for 30 minutes
  • Rinsed with cool water
  • Applied Abba Pure Gentle Leave-in Conditioner along with DevaCare One C
  • Twisted and bantu knotted my hair
  • Let it air dry over night

Results are below.
