Your scalp is crawling….WHAT?

Do you ever feel as though your scalp is crawling or has that crawling sensation only to find out that it is NOT lice, a spider or bug? So then you are like, well what could it possibly be? I have to admit that I have had this sensation before and not long ago. No, I don’t have lice. Yes, my scalp is clean and no, I am not experiencing hair loss. So what could that sensation possibly mean you might ask? Well, I did a little digging and found out that it could mean LOTs of things such as hair loss, effects from meds, anxiety, vitamin deficiency, migraine etc. I am not here to diagnose any cases but I just wanted to put it out there that if your scalp is crawling or if you have ever experienced this, you are not alone. I think mine might be an occasional growth spurt associated due to me taking MSM and Biotin. Since it doesn’t occur very often, I don’t worry about it. The cases where people experience anxiety or hair loss is when the crawling is usually accompanied by tingling, itching, burning and/or numbness.

I thought it would be interesting to see how many of you are feeling the same sensation. Make sure you keep your scalp clean. Many of us work out or sweat easily and salt buildup could be taking place. Also, make sure to co-wash/wash your hair at least once a week to rid your hair and scalp of any buildup that may be present.
Until Next Time,

  1. I've had this sensation before but never really paid any attention to it, just scratched my head and went about my business. I figured it was just nerves or something harmless.

  3. The sensation is not on the scalp. The feeling is more like fluid running down the space between the inside of the skin (where the hair is) and the outside of the brain inside my head (am sure I have one).
In addition to this happening regularly at a variety of times of the day, not every day. I also have the following symptoms: feeling of fullness in ear canal and excess ear wax, dizziness, head aches, allergies, some insomnia, recently mildly diminishing eye sight. Also, I am a deep thinker and always seem to be juggling a variety of challenges and often feel stressed and sometimes overwhelmed and unhappy.
It is 3am and I am on the net searching for some ideas specific to this. I have made inquiries to medicalical professionals - none seem to have info.
    Any new ideas from anyone?

  4. Nice post about Your scalp is crawling….WHAT?, in these days scalp health is more common and people have to try to be careful with their health for example I spend much money in buying generic viagra only because I need it.

  5. I have been having this sensation for the last few weeks. It started shortly after I found out my granddaughter's class had a few children with headlice,so I'm thinking it's just me imagining I have lice! I don't, though. I wash my hair 2-3 times a week, so it's not that my hair and scalp are dirty. I've checked for lice, there are none, so I can only imagine it's either my imagination or anxiety, as I do have periods of stress in my life. Thanks for the info! This was very helpful!
