Fresh Fridays: Questions from my readers

Happy Fabulous Friday!!

I hope that you all are having a wonderful day thus far!  Fresh Fridays is something that I will be doing from time to time answering questions from my readers that come fresh from the emails I receive.  Enjoy!

Q:  Will it hurt your hair to let your perm grow out and not cut it?

A:  It won't hurt it if you pamper it. That's basically what I did. I let my hair grow for 12 months and then I cut off all of the perm. While I was transitioning, I trimmed my ends here and there. You have to make sure you keep your hair moisturized and sealed, meaning moisturize with a water based product and then seal that moisture in with a butter or an oil.  Your hair thrives off of moisture so stay hydrated from the inside out.  Protect your hair while you are asleep by donning a satin scarf or sleep on a satin pillow case.

Minimize the pulling and tugging on your hair because you have what's called a line of demarcation where the natural hair meets the relaxed hair. This is the weakest point on the hair shaft. You want to make sure that you pay attention to your ends as well and cut or trim the split ends. You don't want a split end traveling up the shaft of your hair and onto your natural hair. You will then have to cut your hair up to that point if you do.

Detangle your hair while it is wet and saturated with conditioner or a product that gives you a good amount of slip.  Use a wide tooth comb to detangle and try detangling in sections.  Frequent deep conditioning treatments along with the other tips above will help keep your hair healthy during and after your transition.

Eyeshadow Primers :UDPP vs Mac Prep & Prime Eye Base

Hello Everyone!
I hope that you all are having a wonderful Wednesday.

I am not a makeup guru by far, but I LOVE wearing eyeshadow and mascara. I purchased my first bottle of Urban Decay's Primer Potion (UDPP) for ~$17 a few months back and I really like how it keeps my eyeshadow in place all day without creasing.

Last week I noticed that I was beginning to run out so I decided to try out a different primer. I went for Mac's Prep & Prime Eye Base ($17).   I thought that I would try it out since MAC's makeup line has been getting rave reviews from some of my friends here and online. Maybe the eyeshadows, blush, foundation, etc are great but not this Primer. I could not believe how fast my eyeshadow wore off, not to mention the creasing I got before I even applied the eyeshadow. I am so not happy with this product. I see now that I prefer UDPP over MAC's Prep & Prime Eye Base.

Has anyone else ever had this problem?

Do you all have any suggestions on how I can use the MAC product in such a way that it lasts on my eyes? Meaning, should I mix it with something else like some creamy foundation or something?

I don't want this to go to waste. All I can think about now is that I should have stayed with what I know and bought the UDPP for the same price. We live and we learn.

Also, if you use UDPP and you think you are running low, checkout this link.  It shows you how to depot the UDPP.  You are going to be surprised to find out that you have more of the product left than you think.

Happy Terrific Tuesday!!
I didn’t get to wish you all a Happy Easter.  I hope that everyone had a lovely Easter Day!  The picture that you see is of what I wore to church on Sunday.  What you see in my hair is a headband that I fell in love with.  I purchased it when I went on a recent hair accessory and eye shadow haul.  I will be posting my new spring/summer hair accessories along with a tutorial of how to make your own headband. Yep, that’s right!  You can make your own as well :0).  When I bought them, I looked at it and thought “I can do this!”    I think I will be making a few if I can’t find a readymade color that I want.
