Hair Update

I hope that everyone is have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Hair Update:
The last time that I posted about my hair, I shared my way of trimming/clipping ends. The first week after my trim I wore my hair in a low puff saturated with the Nourishing Hair Butter that I was giving away. I also sealed in the moisture with a new product (coming soon) of mine. Last week I wore my hair in twists. It was the first time that I had gone nearly a full week without taking them down and wearing a twist out. Yea for me!!

Wh
enever I twisted my hair in the past, I would usually do it on wet hair. Well this time after co-washing, detangling, and deep conditioning I blow dried my hair using the cool and warm settings interchangeably to stretch my hair. I then proceeded to twist my hair starting from the back. Usually when I twist my hair when it is wet, my twists shrink within a few minutes of being twisted. This time they didn't do that. I was so pleased with the "HANG" (Length) of the twists. After the first couple of days of wearing them (shown in the pics below) they began to shrivel or "draw" up as we say here in the south :o). I didn't mind because I rocked them for 9 days! That was a first for me. They had lots of body/movement as well.

Maintenance while my hair was in twists:

Moisturized every other day
Sealed hair and ends daily
Slept with a satin bonnet in place
Pulled hair up in a high bun while working out

Today I am wearing a new set of twists and I love them as well. I am going to try and style them. I will post the pics and styles if I do.

I just wanted to give you all an update. I pray that you all are doing well!

Until Next Time,

  1. Your hair is beautiful and long! How long have you been natural? As you know when our hair is not pressed or flat-ironed it is a little shorter due to shrinkage...but from the looks of your photos, your hair is still long without any straightening...just curious.

  2. Thanks Tonya! I have been completely natural since February 2006. This is my Nappyversary month ;o). Before I twisted my hair I did blow dry it to stritch it out a little, but it stink shrunk. Even after the shrinkage it still showed a little of my length. That's why I was so pleased with the results.

I must say that in all of 2007 and most of 2008, I didn't take care of my hair like I should have. That resulted in breakage, split ends, dryness, and the list goes on and on. I have nursed it back to health and it is thanking me by growing fuller and longer.
