According to Merriam Webster’s  definition, a mane is long and heavy hair on a person’s head. Personally, I don’t think it has to be long and heavy.  If you have hair growing from your head, then I consider this to be your mane.  Chic (pronounced sheek) is defined as smart elegance and sophistication.  With that being said,

How long have you been natural?
I’ve been natural going on 9 yrs

What is your goal for your natural hair?

It doesn’t really matter how long it becomes, I’m just really concerned with its health. And I’d like to keep it that way!!!!

 

How does your natural hair make you feel about yourself?

Natural and Free knowing that I no longer have to be held hostage in the salon every two weeks. Wish I could have my time and my money back!

If you could go back and change anything about your natural hair journey, what would it be and why?

Hmmm, this could be a long one. I called myself getting the tresses colored a while back and that was the worst mistake I had ever made. I mean the stylist wasn’t educated enough on Natural hair come to find out but her pitch was sure great though. I do plan to get my hair colored before end of year by UrbanBella in Atlanta. Will keep you posted on my journey.

If you were to go on a hair product diet for 6 months (summer through fall) by not using more than 5 products on your hair, what products would be in your stash?

I typically use a shea butter, coconut oil concoction that I live by. And of course, Water, Water and more Water for the skin and body.

 

What is your staple style? Give a quick tutorial on your staple style. If you have a picture your staple style include it as well.

I love, love, love my twists, WHY you ask? It’s all in one. I twist my hair wet in about 75 twists for one week. Untwist them the following week and wear my fabulous fro for a few days afterward.

What is one product that you have found to have more than one use and you used it on your hair? For example, you look at the ingredients of your favorite body lotion and decide that it can be used as a great moisturizer for your hair.

African Visions has a product called “Premium All Natural Hair and Skin Oil” www.youbuttabelieveit.com which includes jojoba oil, shea butter and rosemary. For you Nag Champa lovers it has a bit of that included as well. I use it for both the hair and body. A little bit goes a long way and I use it on my fiancés hair as well.

What tips/advice do you have to share about natural hair?

Be patient and get to KNOW, LOVE and EMBRACE your tresses and it will LOVE you Back!!

If you had to choose one word to describe your mane, what would it be and why?

Nappy Rutz  Why? B/c I love my Nappy Rutz, literally!
