Spring Cleaning!

Hello Lovelies!

Spring is here and I am excited!  Why, you might ask.....well it is a refreshing time of year.  During this time of year "Spring" cleaning takes place.  Well, it doesn't have to be spring in order for you to take part in cleaning, but this is giving me the opportunity to bring this action to your attention.

It's time to cleanse/clean yourself, your house, your car, your LIFE!  Yes! It is time to do some much needed cleansing and cleaning.  Once you clean out the junk, the clutter, the unnecessary items, and cleanse your mind you will have space to receive newness.

Why you would want to pile the newness on old things; junk?  Prepare your storage, your closet, your mind and your life for the new things that are on the horizon.  Clean up.  Cleanse your spirit and your mind.  You might wonder, well how do I go about doing that?  Well you have to change the way you think.  You have to change the way you see yourself; your life.  I have given you examples of things that you can clean or cleanse, but for the purpose of this post I want to talk about getting your spirit/mind cleansed.

What is it that you really want out of this life that you are only going to live ONCE?  Before you answer that, you need to really think about it.  Search deep within.  What hurt are you holding on to?  What is that one thing that is lingering around that is keeping your from moving to the next level?  How does it make you feel?  What is your daily language like when you get into that HURTFUL, UNCOMFORTABLE, UNBEARABLE place?

See, you have to get to the root of the problem.  Many people stay on the surface and down play what is really bothering them.  Now, do you think that you deserve what it is that you want?  Let me tell you that you do deserve to be HAPPY, DEBT FREE, SAVED, FULFILLED, JOYFUL, PAID IN FULL, SINGLE, MARRIED, etc.  You deserve to get what you want out of life.  It all starts with you mindset.  You have to change the way that you think because THOUGHTS ARE THINGS.  They are.  You become what you think about.

I challenge you to become aware of your thoughts and your words.  This is very important.  Anytime a negative thought arises, replace it with a positive one.  It can be for the simplest of thoughts.  Think before you speak.

So let's get busy with cleansing our minds of destructive and negative thoughts.

This week I would like for you to take notes on your thoughts that are negative, destructive, hurtful, harmful......  I urge you to do this and at the end of the week you will be surprised at what goes through your mind.  This is going to help you with your mind awareness.  Fix it by replacing those thought with new and positive thoughts.

You can do it.  Believe in yourself!

Until Next Time,

The Simple Indulgences of Life

Good Afternoon Darlings!

Too often we go about life and wish we could travel to Puerto Rico for a week, live in Miami near the beach, be on the airplane we see flying in the sky to a place we don't know, etc.   We have to take the time to be thankful and enjoy the simple indulgences of life.  Don't forget to indulge in the cool and brisk morning air while walking from the car to the office building; the smell of freshly brewed coffee early in the morning; the thirst quenching taste of cool water after a walk outside in the sweltering heat; the taps of rain drops on your window pane while you are lying in bed on a Saturday morning with nothing to do for the next hour; the look of freshly painted nails that are shining brighter than the sun; the smell of a shirt fresh from the dryer; the smell of BBQ from someone's house or balcony down the street; the ring of your phone that lets you know that someone is thinking about you at that moment.  I could go on and on but you get the picture.  Take time to indulge in those simple moments that we sometimes take for granted.

Things That Make You Go: Say Wha' Nigh

Hello Luvs!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. This past Friday, I decided to detour to a thrift store since I was stuck in jammed packed traffic that wasn't moving at all. As soon as I was able to exit, I did.

Upon entering the thrift store, I moseyed on over to the jewelry case to look through the glass at some jewelry. Lo and behold, a hefty price tag caught my eye and it wasn't for a piece of jewelry. It was for a Burberry handbag. Y'all know I had to take my phone out and snap this photo!  Yep you are seeing correctly.  $650.00.

I tried finding a similar one to do a price comaprison, but this is as close as I could find on the Burberry Site.

Not my cup of tea, but if it is yours....have at it ;-).

What has made  you go "Say Wha' Nigh" lately?

Hair Grease and Ponytails

Have you ever wondered why your hair was so long, thick, and full of life as a child?  Even then, our parents used products that contained mineral oil.......Blue Magic Grease!  They also used rubberbands, shampoos with sulfates, brushes, etc.  So, what's the big deal about mineral oil, sulfates, etc you might ask?  Well, after a few years of being natural I asked myself the same question.  Take a look at my video below and feel free to chime in with your opinions.  Why do you think your hair thrived while being natural as a child?

Who's Your Hair Crush?

Have you ever seen a picture or a person with hair so fierce that for an instant you wish you had hair like theirs?  I have and I think you all have been there and done that too.   I found the picture below and thought her hair was gorgeous!  I love how full and luscious it looks.  I don’t know who she is but I love how her hair looks.  Anyway, who is your hair crush?  Please share and don’t hold back.  Now after you finish crushing about someone’s hair, show yours some love so it doesn’t feel abandoned.  I love my hair, but every now and then I get a crush rush and have to stop and stare.  Please share your hair crushes with us!

Scalp Exfoliation

During this past week, I was making some coffee scrub and an idea popped into my mind. If you exfoliate then you can probably relate. Whenever you come across the perfect scrub for your face or body, you slather it on and get to rubbing. You may even set the ambiance by turning your bathroom into an at home spa. After all of the pampering is done and you feel all relaxed, you kick back and enjoy the rest of your day. Well, what about exfoliating your scalp…….with coffee grounds?

Did you know that coffee beans contain magnesium, potassium, niacin, and vitamin E? Coffee beans also act as an antioxidant and have antibacterial, exfoliating and stimulating properties. I was looking at the benefits of the coffee bean and came across a recipe for a scalp scrub.
The recipe calls for sugar but I am going to try coffee. Note: You might want to try used coffee grounds as they are softer. You can even get used coffee grounds from your local coffee shop. That idea was taken from here.

I am going to try this out this weekend. My only fear is that I won’t be able to get all of the coffee grounds out of my coils with ease. Anyway, I think I am going to do it and hopefully I will master the coffee ground removal.
Have you ever exfoliated your scalp?

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 Tablespoons sugar – brown or granulated (your preference, though the latter holds up better)

  • Your favorite conditioner- enough to make a paste with sugar

  • If desired one of the following may be added:
Jojoba oil: for dry scalp. Helps to re-balance sebum
Tea Tree oil: For oily or dry scalp, dandruff psoriasis or dermatitis. Tea tree oil is an Antiseptic, Anti-bacterial, and Anti fungal.
Chamomile: Chamomile has been clinically proven to have anti-inflammatory and repairing properties.
Lavender oil: Balances the production of sebum from the oil glands making it beneficial for dry or oily skins for psoriasis, acne, eczema, seborrhea and spots
OR you can also add your favorite scented oil- vanilla, jasmine etc. for a bit of an aromatherapy effect.

What you need to do:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Be sure to mix well.

  2. You can wethair, though it’s not necessary. You may want to shampoo first if hair is gunky with styling products

  3. Apply mixture to scalp with fingers.Massage scalp in a circular motion for a few minutes.

  4. Rinse mixture from hair, then shampoo and condition as usual. Recipe and Directions taken from here.

Have You Ever...............?

Have you ever almost knocked someone out with your puff?
Well, yesterday at church I almost made that happen. This lady was behind me and she spoke to me. I turned around to speak to her and I thought my puff touched her but I didn’t know for sure. When I turned back around after talking to her for a brief moment, my puff hit her in the face. I know you all are saying she must have been really close…..and those were my thoughts as well. So she jokingly told me, “You are trying to knock me out with that puff of yours”. I turned around one last time to tell her that I was sorry, and guess what…..my puff hit her again! I couldn't do anything but laugh. She was laughing too and shaking her head.

This is when you know that your hair has grown; it reaches out and touches someone only to let them know that they are too close to its owner. Just thought I would share one of my puff moments.

Have You Ever............?

Today’s Have You Ever moment deals with a coworker of mine. Have you ever witnessed anyone eat cereal out of a cup at work at 3:30 in the afternoon? Well I did today and I was speechless when he did it. He even walked back to his cubicle crunching on those cheerios like they were some nerds or something (remember that candy?).

This is something that you would think would be done outside of the work place. I was too through when he turned that kiddie meal cup up to indulge in a mouthful of milk and multigrain cheerios. His excuse was that he didn't have a spoon. WOW!! Lesson learned: When you are in a bind, compromise.

See it for yourself.

Please feel free to share your Have you Ever experiences.

Until next time,
